An innovative program at University Hospital in San Antonio is helping to save pregnant women who suffer from placenta accreta, which causes potentially deadly hemorrhaging. Doctors say the program exists because San Antonio has worked to assure a steady supply of whole blood, which comes directly from the donor before its parts are separated. NBC News’ Cynthia McFadden reports.
