Looking for a ton of backup power? Walmart is currently offering an excellent deal on an Ecoflow Delta Max 1600 Portable Power Station + Delta Max 2000 Extra Battery Bundle. Buying the two separately would normally cost you $2400 (on sale), but right now you can get the pair for only $1659. That’s a massive $740 discount. On a side note, this purchase may qualify you for the 30% federal tax credit on battery storage. The 30% federal tax credit can be applied to battery storage purchases that total over 3kWh for 2024. Make sure to check your local statutes as well as the energy.gov website for more details.
Ecoflow Delta Max Power Station Bundle (3.6kWh Total) for $1659
This Delta Max bundle is comprised of two units, the Delta Max 1600 (1612W) portable power station and the Delta Max 2000 (2016W) extra battery for a total of 3628W of backup power. The Delta Max has six AC ports capable of up to 3400W max output with X-boost technology. There are also four USB Type-A charging ports (two with fast-charging capability) and two USB Type-C charging ports with up to 100W Power Delivery. The Delta Max can be charged via AC or solar or both! It will charge at up to 1800W via AC and up to 800W (2x400W panels) with solar for a combined total of 2600W.
Although the Delta Max is typically used as a mobile backup power solution when you have no available grid or shore power, it can also work as an always-on passthrough AC power strip as well. It has an EPS function that will automatically swap to battery power when there is a power outage. Keep in mind, though, that it doesn’t function exactly as a UPS because there is a small delay (about 30ms) before the switch. Some electronics like PCs may restart instead of staying on.
The huge 3.6kWh battery can power your electronics for days, depending on the load. The Delta Max uses NCM instead of LFP batteries, which is still a great solution for large battery backups like these because they significantly shed cost and weight. Degradation isn’t really a concern for all but the most power hungry users. It will take more than 500 full recharge cycles to hit 80% battery capacity, which the average person won’t be able to reach for several years. Proper storage will keep calendar aging to a minimum.
Standard “UPS” battery backups like APC and CyberPower are cheaper because they use lead acid batteries. As opposed to lithium batteries, lead acid batteries are super heavy, have a much shorter lifespan, and are far less efficient. That’s why cheaper UPS battery backups should be replaced every 3 years or so.
The Delta Max is a smart battery and thus you can change settings, check on its status, and power on or off outlets remotely, all from your phone. In my personal experience, Ecoflow has good product support and they are continuously rolling out new firmware and software updates. These are the main reasons why I would choose Ecoflow over other popular brands like Bluetti or Jackery, because Ecoflow seems to do a better job of supporting their products and improving their software after the sale.
